PRELUDE TO SUMMER

We were planning to begin this year's blog with our summer activities in Colorado; however, there have been several special events we want to share with you prior to our leaving.

In January we made our regular trek to Indio, CA and Quartzsite, AZ.  The Quartzsite revival was different this year in that Russ led the music, and arranged a reunion of our former southern gospel group, "Redeemed".  After singing together 15 years, we disbanded in 2005 but came out of retirement for a mini-concert!

February began a series of events that included 2 weddings, 2 memorial services, Easter, 2 graduations (yet to happen in May), several birthdays, a 7-week opportunity to lead the music at a church in Sun City Grand, and next week a 4-day "get-away-from-it-all" respite with good friends, to Benson, AZ.  We have a feeling we will need the cool weather and whispering pines of Colorado to recover from our overloaded calendar of events!

And so, having said all of this, as we prepare to leave for the Ponderosa Retreat and Conference Center at the end of May, the words of a favorite old hymn come to mind:
Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart;
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.

Please pray for us as we volunteer at camp - that we will give our best efforts in all that we do and that others will see Christ living in us.  To God be the glory!

STEPHANIE'S WEDDING

Stephanie Matthews and Anthony Markham were married February 17th at Scottsdale's Clayton at the Park.

Alyssa and Stephanie - sisters and best friends forever!

The Matthews and Markham family - Bill, Alyssa, Stephanie, Anthony and Chris.

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family!  L to R:  Kyle, Ashley, Bella, Russ, Jenni, Nancy, Chris, Bill, Stephanie, Anthony, Bobby, Tiffany, Hans, Amy, Alyssa, Serena and Rod.  Seated:  Bill's mom, Virginia Matthews, who went Home to be with the Lord just a few days after Stephanie's wedding.

IN MEMORY - MICHAEL ALLISON

We were saddened by the sudden loss of  Michael Allison, husband of Nancy's best friend, Ellen.
Michael's wish was to have his ashes scattered in 2 of his favorite fishing spots - Lake Pleasant (near Phoenix) and a lake in Oregon.  On a beautiful Spring day, Michael's family and a few close family friends made the trek to Lake Pleasant to say a final goodbye.  Shown above are long-time friends, Jordan and Joanna Christopher, and Ellen carrying Michael's ashes to be sprinkled in the water.

ALYSSA'S WEDDING

Alyssa Matthews was married to Hans Schmid on March 23rd at Scottsdale's Starfire Country Club.

Alyssa surrounded by a bevy of beautiful young ladies and 3 darling flower girls.

Hans and the guys.  Notice the turquoise Vans and matching ties that compliment the turquoise dresses worn by Alyssa's attendants.  Don't know why the guys refused to wear pink!

Which is the mom, and which is the daughter?  Oh yeh, guess you can tell by what they're wearing!

EASTER

Easter brings families together not only to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, but to wear lots of pink!  Bella and Nanna, (aka Family Social Director) seem to be doing a good job showing off their Easter finery and great smiles!

There's just no telling where you'll find an Easter egg when you're at Padaddy's and Baca's house!  Where's the green grass?

Social event of the day:  It's a real crack up!  Each person dyes 2 eggs, then...

you go around the circle and "tap" your egg with the person on the left, and then the right...

trying your best to NOT crack your own egg!

Careful...careful...  and the winner is..............

BELLA'S 2ND BIRTHDAY

BELLA RAE BRANNON - 2 years old on April 18th.

As you can see, she's really into high fashion.  Mom and Dad are having as much fun with the gifts as she is!

Birthday parties are great fun!

 You have to pucker just right to get the candles to go out.

Eating a cupcake without getting your fingers messed up can be tricky!
